I climbed that thing last Christmas Eve and it was cold, but dry cold and not too bad. I wore socks in my climbing shoes and wore a hat all day. I also climbed it this past July and the heat was crazy. Way better in winter. October should be perfect though
Mid October is hit or miss, you may have unbelievable 70 degree weather or a snowstorm, really hard time to make plans in Wyoming but Kentucky is another story

Are you sure you got that NOAA chart right? I doubt if the historical average high for the October 29th is 60 degrees, while the average for the 30th is 33 degrees. You might want to take another look.
Oh yeah, the Durrance Route is a great route and classic. It's possible to move very quickly since most of the belays are bolted. However, there are plenty of other routes that are equally enjoyable.
