Squat, in Vedauwoo.

It had the reputation of being a super powerful OW roof.....and the short list of ascentionists read like a who's who of wide crack climbing....

I really didn't think I'd do it, but once SCIN unlocked the move, It went down pretty quick and painless. On top it took a few minutes to realize what I'd done....Alexis came running up to the top nearly in tears hugging me.....

My thoughts at the moment weren't even there in Wyoming, but with a girl in Texas......it was her memory that made it extra special.

Most satisfying lead

Post by Distant Cousin »

I would say that my most satisfying trad lead is 4 sheets to the wind at the New. Although I had done it a bunch on toprope on previous visits, when I led it I started to get a little pumped in the upper section.

In the moment I realized I could get a kneebar in a horizontal in the middle of the roof. The satisfying part was that I had cheated the pump on a trad climb with a knee bar. Also, it was probably the first challenging trad lead that I hadn't sussed out ahead of time, so I felt more like I was just plain climbing.

BANDOLIER!!!!!!!

Seven months after cracking my ankle on this, I decided it was time to conquer this anxiety. I anticipated only to spend the day working it, but the first attempt turned into a send. Thanks again, Wes, for another fantabulous belay and good vibe for the send.

And now we are chillin in a coffee shop jammin' to some killer tunes and drinking coffee to help balance the bottle and a half of red, red wine that makes me feel so fine.
