Mr. Spoon,
The crappy attitude & ego comment was a joke. Most of the "elite" people I know that climb in the Red are more than willing to give you pointers, a catch, whatever. When I started, a few locals took me under the wing and helped me push through the mental and physical game. There wasn't a single ego involved. It is all about having fun and pushing personal limits....nothing like being on route where you hands are starting to open, you got the aggrosheen going, and feeling the whip. 5.3- or 5.12+++ I'm still getting spanked! There's no place like the Red. There's no place like the Red. There's no place like the Red.

marathonmedic, Jump on those 12's. You don't need X amount of 5.11 sends to start 5.12's. Those people telling you to slow down, take it easy, not so fast. They are the same people with 50 thousand sends in their comfort range. They don't usually spray about their sends to much, not because they aren't good sends. Quite the contrary, they are really great sends, BUT they don't spray because it really didn't take much effort and they are only mildly excited about sending another route it their "happy place". Go out and send something people tell you, you shouldn't even be on. And spray like there is no tomorrow.

Pick a good 5.12a. Not Ro or Wild and definetly nothing at the Lode. It's just a bunch of asses, egomaniacs, pricks, WASP's and Jews out there. (BTW if you do go to the Lode, I'll be glad to give you a catch. You'll find me there most days.)

Yeah dude if you can do at least 10d you should be able to send any 12 at the Red as ther ain't no move harder then 10d on any of 'em. I say go for it!
Lest we all forget... climbing is a mostly meaningless pursuit that we do for fun.
