Work on the volleyball set - just hit them in the ass hard enough to keep them upright, and they will land on the pad just fine. Don't try to catch anyone that is much bigger then you. If they aren't high enough for the ass set, then just try to keep their shoulders upright.

I always worry about taking a spotter out, but I have been lucky to have people that will take one for the team save my ass more then once.

I get a little nervous spotting for people bigger than me, too-- I think the best advice is to sit on the ground a few feet away, spray beta, yell "Allez!!" as they're cruxing out, and give them a pat on the ass once they send.

just hit them in the ass hard
 you want me to hit you where?

actually the best spot I ever had was from a guy who somehow caught my 'ass' in his hands and gently lowered me...it was the weirdest sensation but a great catch!!

I think Allah and I did a pretty good job of keeping Andrew's Sis safe during this sketchy little boulder problem up to the first bolt.

the best spot I ever had was at Hawk's Nest, and is a little too risque' to describe, even for this forum!

this is something that makes me nervous everytime I climb outside or in.

I'm a female....I'm 5'10 and weigh 127 pds how do I 'spot' someone that weighs a lot more than me? I know what I try to do...and that's just make sure they land on the pad and don't hit their head...but as someone who's going to probably get knocked over by most boys that I try to spot...any more advice?

Even when the chics that are climbing with me try to spot me...it makes me nervous...I know they're a great spot but I'm afraid of hurting them since they are more often than not...smaller
Well, you can always do what my partners do with me. I usually just hit the ground and they say they're sorry. I remember a problem I was on with four spotters. I came off sideways and landed half on the pad and half off. Not one hand touched me, but there were plenty of apologies.
I've had just about enough of this shit.

Advice for spotting:
If you are Wes: Wear a full body armor -- or at least some protective goggles

I'm about 5'1'' & I've had no problems getting hurt spotting (or hurting the dudes I have spotted). Watch their butts instead of their hands. It can be tempting to want to watch someone work hard and send...But, I think you can provide a better spot (and get an interesting point of view), if you watch their posterior...
