His Holiness the Dalai Lama tried to be a vegetarian several times, but he kept getting sick. Therefore he decided to find some balance and became a vegetarian every other day so that half of his life he would be a vegetarian. I tried this for a couple of years and it worked well, but nothing feels better than meat when I want to heal sore muscles or get stronger.

I like that idea. Sounds like a rather healthy approach, too.

the buddha tried fasting a few times too. he said it slowed down the mind.
