First 12

Post by marathonmedic »

I've been thinking lately that it's about time for me to start looking for that first .12 to send. Twinkie is pretty high up on the list as well as Ro and Wild, Yet Tasty even though they're both a bit "soft". Anybody have any suggestions?

Hi ,
i was looking at your spray list and wasn't sure if it was up to date but it didn't look like you had done very many 11's yet.

If your list is current, I would encourage you to try to put a heavy assault on the awesome 11's in the gorge before going after that 12.

Trying to climb harder than your body (muscles, TENDONS) are ready could set you up for an injury.

On the other side if you have ticked a proper amount of 11's then Ro is a good choice. Who cares wether it is consider soft or not go for quality and pick a route that suits you and most importantly interests you. Also Ale 8 1 at the motherlode is a very soft 12b and is a great route.

Happy sending!

I'll be the first to admit that my outdoor tick list isn't very impressive, but 95% of my climbing is done on indoor 11's. School just won't let me get outside very often. (That and my spray only includes redpoints.)

So why are you trying to send a 12 before you build a base of 10s and 11s [outdoors]?

Nice rank, btw ... what evil people are responsible for that?

Indeed, what evil people are responsible for that?

I dunno why I've got my eyes on a 12. Part of it is my fear that I'll get over my head on some 11. I figure that if I can send at least one 12 I can probably make it up most 11s. I guess I'm a number chaser, too. Maybe I should just focus on sending a bunch of 10's next weekend except for Bandolier.

Wait a minute. Didn't I see you saying that you wanted to send your first 12 soon? You're 10/11 spray list isn't much longer than mine is.

1. I didn't use the word, "soon". I got on two 12s this weekend and learned the reality of how far I have to go ... lots of training.
2. Although not much longer, my list looks a little different from yours.
3. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Training on colorful plastic holds is good training for ya, though, Meadows. ;)

Don't you just love being able to see each other's tick lists? Man or woman, it's a way of determing "Who's is bigger". 8)

Ha! You responded to an edited message.

It is a nice way ... we get the mystery out of the way upfront.
