Hello to everyone from Cinci and the Red from many years back!
This is Ted of Ted and Laura (and now Anna).
We are both in grad school. We are hoping this is our last year and then starting faculty jobs somewhere—hopefully closer to the Red.
Besides school we have mainly been busy being parents: spending more time at the zoo than the climbing gym. As evidenced by pics.

After Cinci we lived in Logan Utah, then Reno Nevada each for 6 months, then went on to Seattle. In Seattle we climbed out here in Squamish, Chek Canyon, Smith, Little Si, and down to Yosemite, Lovers Leap and a few other places.
In town, we mainly bouldered indoors at the local gym Stonegardens, and I worked there for a while.
But we had to put extra energy into school, so climbing is mainly on hold.
However—I have to say that seeing the pics from the new areas at the Red, and some old classics really makes me hungry to come back to your part of the world.
Also, congratulations on having a good positive community-- both online and off.
Those are rare things. The climbing community in the Northwest is much larger, but in many ways less fun, and certainly more uptight.
I will say three things about living in the west:
1. Don't believe the hype. There are no sport climbing areas like the Red out here (i.e. with stacks of classic, overhanging 10,11,12, and 13s at the same area).
2. Never trade wet granite for overhanging sandstone.
3. Enjoy the autumn weather.
cheers,
ted
You have got it better than you realize.

Howdy!
Hey Chris,
Glad to hear from you too! I hope that Betsy and family are well and the Rock Quest train is running on time.
I hope that you are still taking advantage of the potential of the gym to set interesting routes. there are so many interesting features.
I wish now I could climb the type of routes that I remember from RQ back then. I think you have to be near a good route climbing area for people to actually care enough to set routes that require any thought. So we have bouldering and plastic ladders out here. Eh.
Oh, and not moon pies, but chocolate chip pancakes-- breakfast on the beach.
cheers,
ted
