Sit on the couch. Watch Friends reruns. Drink beer. Go outside and send hard stuff. Go home. Sit at the computer. Spray. Repeat.

Just do a different type of climbing for awhile.....slabs aren't shoulder intensive. duh.

Leslie, I recommend cycling too. It won't do much for your upper body but if you don't have the temperment for yoga, then it's a pretty burly sport once you get into it. If your student center offers spinning classes, those will work your ass off. Quite literally.

SHUT UP ETHAN AND ALLAH! I'M MELLOW GODDDAMMMIT!!

besides, i can't really do yoga at the moment. any kind of plank position, my shoulders take a beating.

i'm definitely taking more trips to the crunch gym in chicago.

yasmeen: yeah, i do remember meeting you at torrent and at miguel's a few times, w/ loren.

ZSpider: were you by the .9's and .10's that day it was raining? it was a friday...

allah: i think i met you after the derbyfest at miguel's, although you did look a bit flush...

When I strained my rotator cuff I was told to leave pull-ups alone and to do push-ups instead. Several climbers who have had rotator cuff injuries gave me this advice. Essentially, it strengthens the opposing muscles to help protect the rotator cuff from reinjury. Several freinds of mine swear by it.

if you have a rotator cuff injury i would NOT recommend yoga or swimming. both require a lot of flexibility in the shoulder joint and it sounds like right now you need to let it heal a little before straining it again. the push-ups might not be a bad idea though.

i also concur with cycling being a good workout and an odd challenge (for me at least). give your bod a little time to heal. you have to live with your shoulder for the rest of your life.
