Forest Service Road 9

I think they were working on this last week. Does anyone know if it's still closed?

Don't know, but I'm hot to see it open again. That's the road back to Purple Valley, isn't it? There's a couple 10s back there that I want to try, Captain One-Eye and Come In Your Lycra.

I think that's the one. They had the road blocked off right at the Military parking lot and still have that huge POS parked there. We were going to have to take the "alternate" approach to get to Fortress but they left right as we were getting ready to go. Would that be the same road?

If they had the road blocked at Military then they weren't working on FR 9.

If the road is blocked at the Martin's Fork Trailhead then they are probabbly working on the collapse on KY 77 just before Raven Rock and the Iron Bridge. That is a state road and that project should be wrapped up in a more timely manner than FS Road 9. I would bet FS Road 9 stays closed for awhile (IMHO that ain't a bad thing), until then you can hike and bike the road and have those crags pretty much to yourself!
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
