Do people rent garages?

Post by SCIN »

Just wondering if anyone knows of the possibility of renting a garage? I'm looking to build a woody but need a space the size of a garage to do so.

Check out a storage units/buildings. You should be able to find something garage sized there.
Screw you guys. I'm going bowling.

I don't think they'd like 30 different people coming in and doing it. Two or three may not be a problem.

If you have the land to put it on...you could get one of those sheds...modify it and use it...it would probably cost the same as it would to keep a rent-a-space for however long...when you're done you have a portable woody....they make those things in all different sizes and tall and long and so on. I see people living in them all over the gorge on those lots off in the woods.

You know what I mean, the utility sheds you can get at like lowe's or home depot and so on.

Anyway, maybe I am way off and they wouldn't be tall enough...but the barn shaped ones would be perfect to make some overhanging areas...!

Yea, good idea Spuzo. Those things can be pretty tall if you want them to. I think we're going to look into it. After seeing KD's woody in the album I'm pretty psyched building a personal woody:

that's not a woody!!! that's an outdoor climbing gym! nice, had not seen that picture before.

Yeah i was just thinking more about those sheds...you could be inside too and work out in any weather! Yet, at the same time, could problem place holds strategically so that with the doors open (if you left them on) you could work overhang moves and pull roofs and so on...

Good luck!

That is an amazing woody

If you want to build something like that, I would think you might as well just build the whole thing outside. By the time you are done, all you have to do is throw a roof and doors on and you have yourself a garage/indoor climbing gym. why even try to build it inside with so many limitations? plus if your renting indoor space, it will have to be free-standing anyways. I guess one might have to start thinking about city ordinances when it starts becoming so large and building like

KD's climbing wall is incredible. He has more holds and features on his wall than some of the so called gyms I've been to. He has even taken some of his better holds and loaned them to Rocksport to be used for some of the climbing comps.
