Kittens

Post by Yasmeen »

About a week ago, a mama cat wandered onto Joe and Spuzo's property with her 5 kittens. They've been feeding them and keeping them in the cabin, and all of them are back to great health, with the kittens already litter-box trained. 1 of the kittens was given away at Miguel's last night, so there are 4 8-week old kittens we need to find homes for now. They are adorable (of course) and really playful and sweet.

There isn't much time before Spuzo and Joe are leaving for Vegas, so they really need to find good homes for these guys! If you can't take one, please ask around and see if anyone you know would like to.

I met these kitties last week. My favorite was the runt of the litter because he's so affectionate. All of them are very affable with people actually.

I was gonna write something about having a hungry snake but I decided that wouldn't be cool.

a couple of friends are involved with a cat/kitten rescue center and keep asking me to take one. and i always consider it, and then refuse, on the basis that i'm away a lot and don't want the cat to a) be home alone too much and b) tear the place to bits, pee on the couch, and poop in the kitchen sink because of point a (one friend has this problem - the cat was nicknamed p.p. for a while).

so here's a question, for all you folks who have cats and go away a lot on weekends (and all those who don't have cats because of similar concerns)(and ... anyone else who has an opinion): have you ever had problems like this? do you feel guilty about leaving them home alone a lot? and how much time away from home and cat is too much?

I've only had one cat in my life Bungie was a black calico, and we miss her to this day. She stole my heart immediately, and she has it with her where ever she went when she left this world.

When we were away, Bungie was fine. She always used her litter box, and would be sitting by the door when we got home waiting to play. A few times, she had a field day with the toilet paper, but we learned to shut the bathroom door after that.

Since she was a house cat, I declawed her, and I still struggle with that decision, but she liked to wait till I was asleep and wreck the back of my couch. She never did it when I was awake, but let my breathing become even.......... I left her back claws so that she could protect herself, and believe me she could!

She liked to bring me presents, you know, mouse gutts and whatnot. I may have been very lucky, but I really never had any trouble out of her.
She was beautiful and a good friend.

I had a semi-wild cat that was still fine when left alone. I was gone every Friday and back every monday...and as long as there was food she was good. A cat will let you know when it's not happy with your leaving, like it will poop in your bed or whatever, but just designate a room to the cat when you leave for a long time.

These guys were super easy to litter train and we're introducing them to our apt by leaving them in the bathroom for a day then letting them out into at least two rooms of the apt. We've got lots of stuff they could get stuck in around the place...so we don't want any of them to get hurt.

They are super sweet and really playful. They are getting fat little bellies though - we're kind of spoiling them I think. They love to curl up together and it's hilarious to look in the bathroom and see them all lined up in the bathtub!!! They get in the tub and have a WWF match, then nap and eat and nap. What a life!!!!

Anyway, wish I could keep them, but really they should go to nice homes with kids that will terrorize them.

thanks everyone, just let me know if you want one! I will take some more pictures tomorrow.
