If anyone maintenances a route and changes out old bolts for new ones, please save the bolts. Make a note about which route it came from, whick bolt on the route it was (so as to identify how much falling it received) and estimate how long the bolt has been in the rock. Any input about how much water the bolt was exposed to would be useful, too. Get them to me.
I have an engineer contact at Wet Virginia University who works in a materials lab who would like these old bolts to strength test.
As far as I know, no one has looked in a quantifiable way at the longevity of bolts and when they need to be replaced . Hopefully this might give us some guidance.

'Darling, may I please be excused for a moment?
I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, whom I hope to introduce you to after dinner.'
The polite way to excuse yourself and take a piss.
