And I say: @*!&# the coalition. I have had it!
(sorry, I am having a bad week here: last month, I get fired from the coalition after working my tail off. Last week, Tim leaves the CAC, this week Shannon decides to hire another webmaster).

I know that I have donated enough money, time and effort - and so have a NUMBER of people... but hey, let's wake up here:
It's your hard-earned money that the coalition has used to have me build two sites... and it's our money that shannon and gretchen are throwing away... by throwing away all the hard work.

Please write more checks to the coalition... give them more... they really need it - now more than ever!

And yes, I did say: "@*!&# the coalition."
! Enough with all that detestation ALREADY !
Smile & be thankful for what you have.

Who did they "hire"? I know for a fact that a highly skilled volunteer offered to take over everything....for free. It was an amazing offer and this person is legit. This person isn't "kosher" with the RRGCC, however, so I was wondering if they'd accept the generous offer. If they didn't allow this volunteer and actually hired someone instead, then that is a huge waste of money and a serious first time demonstration to me of the elitism and turning down of volunteers that I've *heard* so much about.

This shit is starting to get me mad too, vic...

Hired?
They had hired me to do a job – not a small one where we can simply say: don’t worry about it.
As far as I am concerned, they could have recently hired the most friendly individual, a much more skilled person than me, the result is the same:
I was given an outline for 3 phases by Shannon
I priced the work according to 3 phases and provided a contract to Shannon
Shannon provided me with payments for the first phase
I immediately started on it, provided mock copies, made the desired changes and then waited for the information to come my way. With little luck on that last one, I took matters in my own hands and started on gathering information myself – I mean: a lot of work went into this project. People have to be responsible and a little more accountable for their actions.

As she put it:
“I have had 3 years to think about this. I do not want a volunteer for this job…”
(a summary of what was said to me about 14 months ago)

The coalition wanted to have 3 phases on the web:
1. Everything about RRGCC
2. Every single climbing area and bouldering areas – and to include all climbs
3. Info about the Red and its immediate surroundings

Note that phase 2 is a big one! It was to include all routes, and a picture for each. That in itself is more work than writing a book.

Back to square one:
It’s not what they do that I find upsetting, it is the way they do it.

Let’s look at things in prospective now:
If it is a volunteer, then how long until this person is completely fed up with the micro management? How long until this willing person tells her to kiss a tree? Because in case we have all missed it, everyone else is leaving the coalition for the same reasons…

But wait! She just got married, just came back from a honeymoon… perhaps things are different now, right? Well, then, why is it that the minute she returns she starts her destructive path of volunteers and micro-management again – just like Tim Powers?

Maybe this new-hired individual is sur-human and feelings don’t come into play, but I tell you what:
With all the money and time climbers and business have given to the coalition, Shannon owes us:
a) Take immediate steps to surrender the coalition
b) Train the new person by laying all cards on the table
c) Step down and walk away

I have had it with her. Enough is enough. I am going biking.

I think it's kind of strange how the RRGCC keeps sinking money into a website when they have such a large mortgage to pay. Is the website and online guide really top priority for their efforts? It doesn't seem like a wise way to spend the members' money especially considering the fact that there is already an existing online guide for the area.

From my experience and what I've seen in the past, it seems that the RRGCC *hates* it when efforts from the climbing community are put into things concerning climbing at the Red and they are not involved. It's kind of like a power play thing. Believe it or not, RRGCC, good things can be done for climbing at the Red without you. It's all strange considering that this is not corporate America. It's fucking rock climbing.
