I hear you SCIN...
I hate being mediocre at things so instead of be mediocre at a lot of activiteis I put all of my energy into one...climbing. I know that if all I could do is go out and climb at the same level every day, whatever level that may be, I would get bored. I need to have the opportunity to reach new levels. Prior to my major addiction to climbing I used to ride road and particularly mountain bike pretty hard...racing etc. I haven't hardly been on my mountain bike at all since I moved here to Lex. 2 yrs. ago. Instead I have devoted all of my time to climbing at the Red, which leads me to another problem. I used to travel all the time to other climbing venues, but with the Red so close and good I hardly travel at all. I think that if I got to the New and Obed a little more, both of wich are relatively short drives I would be refreshed. The smae may be true for you too.
The fact of the matter is that if you weren't obsesed with climbing more and more and harder and harder you would just be obsessed with doing somehting else more and more and better and better... it is just our type of personality. You wouldn't commit all of your time to one activity if you didn't find it fulfilling... no matter what we may feel at times we are in control.... climbing isn't in control of us... or is it
Must go climb, must go climb, who cares how hot it is.....

Lest we all forget... climbing is a mostly meaningless pursuit that we do for fun.
I've really gotten away from being clilmbng focused. I think if I had to commit to one activity other than climbing I'd get into the whole backpacking thing again. Then I'd have to move because hiking in the southeast rhodo jungle gets old fast.
Naw, I've thought about it for a minute. I might devote myself to turning wrenches on hot rods or 4x4s if I didn't climb.....that sounds pretty fun.

I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
Ha, you can never, ever replace a good hack. People might say they are hackers, but really there can be only one hacker, me. So, until you have been hacked by me, you haven't really been hacked...Eric wrote:I forgot, what does "wes humping" replace?

I’m injured right now, so I can’t climb. To try and stay in shape, I increased the intensity and duration of my running and I think I may run my first race sometime soon. Any way, I think I experienced a runner’s high for the first time the other day. While running I was overcome by this very euphoric feeling and I felt like I could run forever. A very cool experience, so I guess running would be my alternative to climbing.
