Choose your passion

Post by SCIN »

Sometimes I hate that I'm so wrapped up in climbing because there are other things I would love put 100% of my efforts into. However, I can never see letting go of my drive to climb harder.

If you could give up all of your climbing time for one activity, what would it be?

For me it would have to be more duathlons. It's one of the rare activities I've found that gives me as many good feelings as climbing.

Hacking. Not the l337 script kiddie cracking shit but the taking things apart and seeing how it works, writing the cleanest code around, type of old school hacking.
Screw you guys. I'm going bowling.

I put all my resources into climbing for a long time, then life was a drag when it got kinda old. It kinda sucks knowing I'm not going to ever climb very hard but it's also cool to know I'm a decent enough climber to have fun, a competant enough boater to run Class IV, and I still see as many concerts as anyone I know. Since I've spread myself out a bit it seems life's much richer and not so limiting (like during those rainy weekends). It's a give and take kinda thing, but it works for me.

Then again I never play my fiddle, don't read nearly enough, and I hardly ever get a chance to.........

I forgot, what does "wes humping" replace?

I'd play with nature.

Nothing makes me happier than sitting and looking, experiencing, prodding, poking, and investigsting nature.

I'm easily distracted on the approaches to crags, thats for sure.
I'm a plastic climbing cracker.

Fear me.

Run more races

do a few Hash Harrier events, do century rides, theater, run naked through my neighbors' sprinklers late at night.

There isn't just one activity that can replace the thrill of climbing.
