Where is Garfish Rock?

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I cant find it on any of my maps.

My maps suck. Can anyone recommend a good detailed map? I need one with landmarks and trails, not elevations and things like that.

I can help some what, although its one of them palces I can find if I am there but cant really discribe. Basicly its near the "shelletelly trace trail parking head" (Spelling?????). Its past the blue bridge. Go past the gravel parking lot and up the road maybe 1/4 of a mile? Start looking for pull offs and a trail going down the hill. When you find one that goes to a big swinging bridge your at the right spot. Cross the bridge and take the trail down to your right. Its a little hike back to it, you will pass a big mossy bolder on your right, you will have to leap a little tinny gully with a streem and you will see garfish rock. Its been a good two years since I have been back there.

Im sorry to bump this up again, but can someone tell me <b>what</b> Garfish Rock is? Is it a cliff face, a big rock near the trail, or maybe a small pebble lying in some random stream? Is it right on the trail or is it way back over a hill or something?

I followed Philips directions, but since I didnt have a clue what I was looking for, I wasnt very successful. After the bridge, there are two trails that go right. One sort of follows the river, and the other goes more straight ahead, but a little to the right.

The reason Im so adamant about find this place is because, as some of you know by now, I like to photograph snakes in the gorge, and somebody once said that there is a place near Garfish Rock that has alot of tin lying about. Since snakes like to hide out under tin, this would be very helpful for me and my wierd hobby.

The trail to the Dome has several pieces of tin with snakes.

Hey great! Thanks for the info. I have never been to the Dome, but I just found it on my map. Is the trail right off of the gravel road and is it marked in a conspicuous way, or is it one of those hidden deals? Im trying to find these things out without asking bothersome questions, but I guess some things ya just have to ask...

.6 miles down 1067 theres a nice pullout with a gate.Walk back through the field(it's all flat) untill you cross the creek to another smaller field. It was all overgrown
last year but there was something of a path that disapeared at the tin in the second field.The dome is uphill to the right of the tin.You can see it from the road when the leaves are down.We found a couple copperheads and a ringsnake when we lifted the tin.

Thanks again. I'll be sure and check it out next time I go down. And please lemme know if you ever find any other tin sites. They are treasure chests to herp photographers.
