The road back to Purple Valley is closed. Might have had something to do with the hard rain a few weeks ago. Any news on when (if?) it will reopen?
Thanks, ZSpider
Access to Purple Valley?
we were at pistol ridge on Saturday. We had to park just off of the last strip of blacktop. accross from the "STOP THE DAM" barn. About a mile with a pack to the access trail. Purple would be even further. Good luck it looks to be a while. We were thinking mountain bikes would be the way to go. No one will be all the way at purple and you could have it all to yourself!! ![Mr. Green ](./images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
As for the hike, Crankmas, I am blaming that one on you!

Sounds like a bike is the way to go. Or, break out the topo and come in from 77.

Maybee from a Limits of Acceptable Change standpoint Forest Road 9 should be permanently closed to motorized travel & remain open only for bikes and foot traffic? That would certainly cut down on the number of overall people going back there and the subsequent impacts. Also, maybee the money that would go to repairing the road and future maintenance of the road could be used instead for existing trail maintenance or some other need that is lacking in funds?

Man, 9 a/b is the "hunting" area, so you can bet it will be back open before the season starts. To much money in permits not to have it open. And, I don't mind the redneck campers. I feel safer parking my car at Muscle when there are 5+ beer drinking rednecks with guns camping nearby, as they make nice guards.
