First Pitch Anchors for Roadside

Post by KD »

A lot of discussion has gone on about bolts and anchors so I thought I'd throw this out. The first pitch of Roadside is easily protected if you're climbing the whole thing but, I always see slings, etc. hanging from the poor wimpy little tree where people have bailed. Has anyone given much thought to placing belay anchors here in an effort to reduce impact on the tree (?) - kind of like the belay anchors at Party Time.

Man, the fact that people even think of roadside as two (or even three) pitches is so Ghey that it defies belief.

I'm with Wes... Roadside is one pitch.

Let's chop the trees down so the gumbies have to leave more booty for me if they want to bail.

I agree with Wes and TheMayor but KD's point is that newbie's rap off that little tree when they can't finish and it might be better for the tree and the safely of the newbies to put in some anchors.

I can't finish Jump for Joy, so let's talk about adding anchors at the third bolt so i don't have to bail off just one bolt.

OK

and I can't clip the anchors on any of the undertow routes at the lode so we need to lower all the anchors there

You can even top rope Roadside (w/ a 60 m. rope), off the existing anchors.
No way it need anchors at the first ledge.
