anyone know if it is possible to park outside the park and camp?
have they gotten more strict about parking in the lot across from camp 4?
yosemite parking
Where outside the park? There are something like four entrances to the place.
If memory serves there is an overflow parking/camping area on the east side of the park just outside the Tioga Pass gate next to a lake. There are FS campgrounds (fairly primative) on the National Forest around the park, including the road that takes you to the West Gate.

I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.
i talked to a guy last year that said he camped outside the valley when he couldn't get a site in camp 4. my friend in LA said that they might be reducing the size of camp 4's parking lot and heavily ticketing in the lot across the road from camp 4. which is where i was planning on leaving my car when i go to the valley next week.
i just got back from yosemite a week or so ago. i'm not sure about parking since i didn't have a car while i was there, but they are getting stricter on the camping at camp 4. they're requiring you to show photo id and you can only stay for a week from may to september.
