Self flagellation of a Buckeye

Post by captain static »

When I was a young and bold climber I thumbed my nose at Land Manager authority. When the State established restrictions at Clifton Gorge I climbed in the restricted area and got caught but got away with a warning. After Clifton was closed we still had Springfield Gorge. Then the dude died. Springfield is private and their lawyer said no. I was training to climb Mt. Hood when Eden Park was closed. Hey, it was either train there or not be in shape for the mountain. When the Park fuzz told me to get down, I flipped them the bird. That got me a free trip downtown w/Cincinnati's finest. Now I'm a broken man. I'm involved with organizations that try to work with Land Managers and try to get them to understand my obsession and let me and others climb. It is a long, slow, and frustrating process. It seems like nothing ever get's done and then it seems like it's only the choss piles that are ever approved for climbing. Even worse, I many times just have to settle for the gym to get my fix. I truly suck.

Uhhh....forgive my ignorance, but how can climbing at Eden Park help you train for Mt. Hood????? Are there some crimper routes there or something????

Yeah, a pretty lame excuse to flaunt authority.

I've flaunted authority quite a few times and got to ride in that cool car too.
Man, I flaunted authority in a really, really distasteful manner once.
Damn. I shiver when I think about it.

Yes, & I've got the disco tux to prove it. Unfortunately, the only breakin' going on in the topic of this discussion was my back breaking when the offficers took me down on the pavement. Now if I get pulled over for a traffic offense I always raise suspicion because the flash back starts me to shakin' :!:
