I would guess that biggest factor would be whether they were in the sun or not.

marathonmedic, I am glad I am not the only one who worries about this. I practically have nightmares about gear failure! But I am a pretty new climber, so don't have any answers for you. sorry

quickdraws like ropes are made out of nylon, which gets broken down by UV rays. A.K.A don't leave your shit sitting in your car all day/out in the sun for prolonged periods of time. Did you ever hear the story of how Dan Osmond died?

yes you dork, dan was a rock climber and he died doing the world's longest fall onto a dynamic line. He left his gear all rigged up for a month or so enduring the weather and then took a huge jump without replacing the gear and it snapped, he died, end of story

No, are you by tempting fate by messin with a psycho like me on these here boards honey??? Hhahahaha, you never read about climbing, watch climbing videos, or do any research into it. Spend some time looking around on the internet while you are at work rather than on here. You will learn a lot!
