Post by Bruno »

Can anyone tell me the names/grades of the four routes between Kampsite and C Sharp or B Flat?

Thanks.

I can't remember if john posted this here or on the RRGCC site but here is the info.

The sport routes from left to right are (with approximate ratings, very subject to change):

Just Duet 10d
Kampsight 5.9+
Trouble Clef 5.9-
Altered Scale 5.9
All Cows Eat Grass 5.8
Ledger Line 5.7
C# or B flat 5.7

I reckon if you squeeze one more in there, it should be Every Good Boy Does Fine... or maybe Accidental.

How are they in comparison with Kampsite? (As far as being worthwhile)

they are still pretty new routes so there is a fair amount of breakage. i have only done All cows and Altered scale. I really enjoyed all cows, especially the view from the top but didn't care too much for altered scale.

If you happen to be in the neigborhood check em out
trouble clef and altered scale both reminded me of kampsight
and just duet has plenty of stuff still to be broken off but was cool
I don't think i would make a special trip to climb any of them but they were fun and also a sure bet to be crowed on a nice sunny weekend

Hats off to the Crusty old one who put these routes up for all to enjoy. How about that base improvement? Can you believe some choad came up to the party who was working (in the rain, covered in mud and sweat) right at the base of Kampsite, threw down his rope and started unpacking his gear. When told that the "ride was closed for repairs" he became indignant and said, "You mean to tell me I drove three hours and I can't climb this route? You guys with the Park Service or somethin?"
Please note that the trail down the hill to the lower crag still needs rehab-ing (stairs, cribbing, etc.)

Trouble Clef, Altered Scale, and All Cows Eat Grass were all fun. It's awesome having six fun, 5.7 - 5.9 climbs next to eachother. The people who put the routes up did a great job. Although I saw plenty of places where rock had chipped off, I didn't have any problems with the rock breaking (and I'm carrying a few extra pounds). The only thing I would point out is that at the bulges near the tops of Trouble Clef and Altered Scale, if you have someone on top rope and they slip, the rope gets a little chewed up.

Thanks for the info on the names/grades.

Kudos to that old geezer, absolutely! My daughter says All Cows Eat Grass is her "most favorite climb ever."

For anyone who keeps up with that kind of stuff, for the record, Ryan Adams got the FA on Ledger Line.
