Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Has anyone read this book? It's hilarious-- definitely a good read if you're looking for something different. Also, if anyone's got any good recommendations, I need some projects for winter break!

I dig the hitchhiker books. You can't stop with the first one.
It seems like everyone is re-reading Tolkein these days (with good reason, my precious).
I just finished Abbeys Desert Solitaire and loved it. I've gotta read more of his stuff... He's way grumpier than me!!
Ya'll congratulate my wife when you see her next... she finished Atlas Shrugged last night!!
I recently re-read Steinbeck's Travels With Charley again and loved it even more than the first time. Any Steinbeck is cool in my opinion... with East of Eden being my favorite of his epics.

Yes, Yasmeen, definitely read the series. I loved those books, I may have to dig them out and read them again.
You can also never go wrong with Edward Abbey. I recently read Desert Solitaire, The Monkey Wrench Gang and its sequal, Hayduke Lives. Excellent books.
You can't go wrong with Jon Kraukauer, either, though a lot of people think he is an asshole. Regardless, his writing really pulls you in.
Right now I am reading the first Harry Potter book - it's excellent! - and I plan to read them all. I also have my usual selection of Anthropology (favorite author there is Jared Diamond) and Theology (favorite author there is Karen Armstrong) books going, which I am constantly reading for research for a book I plan to write myself.
