Chimney Top?

Hey! I was searching for Chimney Top in the online guidebook today and I can't find it! What the...?! :?

I've never been there... so, is it closed to climbing or wha...?

I think you can climb it. You can repel off it or hike up to the baise of it buy going down rough trail.

Its Chimney Rock, and yes it is closed.

It's a shame its closed. The routes that were there were really fun.
It's a tourist area and the when the tourists see you climbing they think they can free solo and they get killed,so the rangers ask that you not climb there.

I think I have answered this same question 3 times,but if I am not allowed to do those cool looking chimneys then I dont mind telling others they cant either.

I wasn't aware that Chimney Top was closed (other than seasonally). Can someone provide me with the source of that information?

It was in print on the Boone web site or in some FS propaganda flyer a while back. We had this discussion here several months ago. ynot, do you remember where it was?
I see they are still lopping off mountains in Eastern Kentucky. Electricity isn't cheap.

Pick up the trail map anywhere in the Red. It's printed on there straight from the FS.
