The best place to get bolts is Qwick Set in Louisville or Lexington. They are about 60 Cents each

Other suitable non-rusting metal would not be a coated steel bolt wheter its cadnium plated, tin coated or galvinized. Its just a few microns thick, once the coating is nicked the rusting starts. Its like the old piton story...looked like new on the outside where it can dry off, inside the drilled hole its rusted away since it sits in dampness.

The only other material that would work better then stainless would be titanium that I am aware of. I can't imagine how much those would be. :)

Gaar, I've been buying at KwikSet for a while and been paying about $2/bolt if I buy a box of 25. Are you sure about that price for that size bolt?

You shouldnt mix ss and galvanized (zinc coated) metals with the bolts and hangars. The mixing of metal speeds up the corosion process. Dont but the bolts from the FIXE site... you can find cheaper power bolts.

I think what you are talking about is galvanic action of dissimilar metals, and since pasivated 300 series stainless hanger is on one end of the galvanic scale (cathode) and the zinc (anodic) is on the other end of the scale the zinc oxide coated bolt will corode, rust, fail, and we will die a horrible death eventually..............thats my story and I'm stickin' with it :D

wow, that was a mouth full of shit. So basically you are saying what Eagleman, said. Just in a more*cough*cough*bullshit*cough way. Very similar to spraying.hmmmm.
If you were really interested in what the answers were to your questions then you wouldn't correct the answerer.
I think you and your questions are insincere and disingenious. Have a nice day :P
