gretchen, i'm not really trying to pick a bone with you. i'm not really sure if you're just kind of joking around with me, or if you think that i object to you being on the BOD.
anyway, i was really wondering how the BOD and executive director were chosen. i posted the question on the rrgcc website, so it will hopefully be answered without people automatically assuming i'm trying to stir up shit.

I must be slow Spragwa. I got no phone call from you. I see back peddling in your posts, but no explanation. I don't see a connection between your posts and your stated motivations. If you have issues with Terry, then deal with it on your own. If you have questions for the RRGCC, then post questions on the RRGCC forum. If you have issues with individuals, go to them and get the facts, then state your opinion.
Blanket unjustified criticism of the RRGCC via a public forum is just hurtful to me and I take it personally. And that kind of attitude is infectious among other climbers even less informed. That you could get some weird sense of enjoyment by posting like you do is pathetic. I think you really need to look more deeply at your feelings about climbing, the RRGCC, its members, and your actions.

The Big Picture- At the End of the Day, will the MP be secured and will we be able to climb there without fear of imminent closure? It seems likely.
The job is getting done.
Every route in the Red has been equiped with volunteer labor (and it is not a little labor) and volunteered gear. The RRGCC does not pay for gear on new routes. So, next time you are clipping a bolt, and you didn't put that bolt in, or are walking on a trail cut into a slope that has been re inforced and you didn't get out there and swing the maddock, try to maintain a semblance of humility and gratitude. Being entitled to complain when what you are complaining about is a freebie is like biting the hand that feeds you.
More importantly, consider donating back to the community. So you don't like the RRGCC or its personel. Support them anyway with money or time. They are getting the job done.

You know, I think this is interesting. Seems to me that members of this board are basically divided into two camps. The RRGCCites and the individualists. One camp is/are united for one cause and wants to run things. The other camp detests organization and someone prescribing their morals and ethics to them. I, for one, hate authoritarian personalities (those who want to tell everyone else what to think or do), but do appreciate the efforts to secure the Murray property. What a condundrum.
Personally, I'm not an "RRGCCite" or an individualist. I've been told things and have experienced things about the coalition/it's members/etc. that I don't neccessarily like or agree with but I don't put much weight into feelings. The fact is that they are doing good work To name a few things...they've built up their website and are making an obvious effort to be more communicative, they've built trails, maintained route safety, and have purchased a gold mine of a climbing area all for the benefit of climbers. These things don't just magically happen and I respect thier hard work. It's easier for me to respect someone for their actions and overlook their quirks than it is for me to like someone for their personality when I don't respect their actions.
