The reason i said call me, was because i was making reference to how a member had been given a behind the scenes lecture about them voicing their concerns.

and johnny had some valid points in his pm defending the coalition that might benefit the organization if they were public.

HF, if that's the case, then direct criticisms to Shannon. The RRGCC is made up of more people than its Executive Director. As far as "all those who sit on their asses are not invited to help", you'd have to spell out the problem for me. What help is being offered and rejected?

Sandy...

but Johnny, Mia's questions are valid. Why not answer them publically?

Because communication is better one on one. If I just posted, the concepts and intentions behind the post would be lost in hijack land. Mia's free to post my reply if she wants. We talked by phone anyway since the issues are too complex for this sound bite forum.

...so what's your problem?

here is some of the PM Johnny sent me answering my post...
Johnny wrote:Q why are the "higher ups" like yourself so damn defensive whenever one of your members voices a concern. i'm not being specific to this situation but the whole rrgcc way of doing things.

A If I had concerns with some issue, I wouldn't just spray shit on a public forum. With a volunteer organization, I'd work to solve the problem. If you think you can do a better job for the RRGCC, then do it. Don't wait to be asked. Be persistent. I have yet to hear one of these "concerned" individuals offer solutions, only complaints.

Q you bitch about not having volunteer help yet never put out the information on what needs to be done and where those who want can help.

A There is only so much we can do. I asked for volunteers to go down to the Lee County Clerk's office and got a very tepid response. It needed to be done and only Shannon and I did it. We need someone to draft some legal documents, any volunteers? We need someone to make parking signs today. We need gravel for a parking lot today. We need someone to help out with funding the payments due on the property, will you help? If you offer to help, will you be committed to see the whole project through? I hope you see my point.

Q you take people's money yet don't give them any information on what is happening with it.

A we accept donations, we don't "take" their money. I thought it was clear that we are paying for the property we purchased along with the advocacy issues with other land owners/FS that we've been doing for years? Is it really a mystery, or is it just more fun to post innuendo about where the money went. As far as information, what more info do you want that is not included on our website?

Q the rrgcc has got a public image problem that needs to be addressed, and would be if the people in power would just let people know what is going on.

A There are many issues that are made public through our website. There are some issues that due to their sensitive nature, cannot be publicly revealed at this time (you will note that info about the final purchase and lawsuit against Charmane has been published now that it is no longer sensitive). There are ongoing issues with Charmane referred to on our website that cannot be discussed now. We have to conserve our time and resources wisely. We cannot do our constiuents any good just paying attention to public image. Some things have to be done for the good of climbers and that may negatively affect our "image" but in the end it is more important.
