Member - Ray may be the first person to make an online guidebook. What more motivation would one need? He's not bored and barely has the time for it...but he's doing it. "Is it the right thing to do? Is it the right time to do it?"....You don't enjoy your job do you? You aren't motivated to set goals and achieve them, are you? That's what this is all about for Ray (I think). He's applying his professional knowledge to a passion of his; Climbing. "Is there a need for it?". I bet some idiot asked that same question to the idea of the internet.

Ray being a route setter of currently unapproved routes is the only issue here. He's been waiting years for them to be approved. Shit, just to hear status of their approval may be some comforting news! Until then, he's going to include his routes in his online guidebook. And he's posting the link on his board. Do you see a pattern here? Ray sure does a lot of contributing to the climbing community and despite what some may believe, he does all this for purely unselfish reasons.

Gotta love the way climbers stick together.
There's nothing better when you are opposed to a group of people (as in those who are opposed to climbing) than seeing those people fight amongst themselves. It shows their weakness, inabilties, and lack of conviction to their cause. Leave them to their own and they will destroy themselves.

What SCIN is doing is an awesome idea, I would hate to see him stop and I would hate to see this thread deleted. If we can talk it out here on the web it is more inclusive and effective than a meeting. Maybee a compromise would be to make this project only available through a password so it would't be completely public?

This board is the best thing around for us when we can't be climbing. Hours of fun and some really funny stuff.
Every now and then a topic comes up and this board becomes one of the worse things around.
Some things are best not talked about in public and I think this is one of them.
I like Bills idea.

damn! i wish i had read the last 6 pages earlier.

you know, it seems no matter how mush proof the coalition hears, they still don't realize they represent the climbing community at large.

what's the deal with coming to one of your meetings to learn about the stuff you're doing? it's going to be a one sided meeting right? since you're all a part of the same club. how much has the rrgcc improved the route development procedure since the mandate was instated? also, what in the entire climbing management plan have you guys changed or at least improved? i honestly don't know, and would appreciate an un-biased answer, or at least a link to where this information can be found.

I added a field to the search form in the guide to allow searching by the First Ascentionists last name. Check it out...kinda cool if you're into history and stuff.

If you click the text at the top of each column it will sort by that field. I'm not sure if they're sorted by default.

that's cool. can you add a section heading about "rrgcc/fs approved" column? man, i'd make it a point to go send all the unapproved routes.
