I bought this rope and started using it back in 2000. Its only had a handful of lead falls, and those were pretty lame (I sew it up when I climb, lol). It's been stored in a cool dry place. Should I just toss it to avoid the "oh not so fun" ground fall?
And yes, if you old timers remember this is Ben, I've returned from hiding. lol

I've got a pretty good pattern for that. Made 2 mats already out of a core shot 70M bluewater. Anyone wanna donate old ropes? I've gotten a couple of pm's about this. All I can tell you is there are many different weaves for mats, some are easier than others. I have an encyclopedia of knots that goes over everything from japanese button knots (like a monkey's fist) to fishing nets. I've got enough rope left to do my favorite weave again so I'll get that done in the next week or so and bring it down with the book for everyone to check out next time I head to the Red. It's basically my adaptation of the weaves sailors use to make mats on staircases. We can go over it and then maybe I can photocopy some important chapters for everyone that wants to know how.
Really it ain't easy. It took me a week of practice to make the first one, tying and untying multiple times to get it right. Plus it shredded my fingers worse than Rumbling Bald.
