Maybe when it's done I can get my Ray back! Just kidding... :)

Really though, I swear he works on this thing all the time. It's been sooo much work so I'm really proud of him and extremely impressed. He's addicted to getting it done.

BUt I do have to mention that there are some HEAVY issues about including areas that are NOT in the existing guide book! And I am talking about the routes on private land!

THat's not my point! Ray, have you spoken with the FA's yet, ie. Hugh L. Chris Martin, etc? By putting that information in the database = publication. From what I understand they are not ready to have the information on those area accessable to all just yet.

I read your post wrong. I thought you meant the unapproved stuff.
Unpublished routes on private land won't be published until the landowner okays it. I'm not incredibly hyped to publish those routes anyway so I will probably never get around to talking to the landowners or the bolt-putter-inners.

Cool, Thanks Ray!!! I know that right now that info is a touchy subject amongst the FA's. PLus we do not have access secured as of yet.

YOU DID AN AWESOME JOB WITH THE DATABASE!! I wonder how this will impact the guidebook industry!

There are about 1500 "publishable" routes in the Red. I don't think the exclusion of those "touchy" routes will matter. Besides, it will suck having to type things such as "If you rest on the jug, the route is 5.12C. But if you only use one hand, it's 5.12d. Also, the First Ascentionist didn't rest in the hueco the size of a house so that specific hueco will not be included if you want the 5.13a pinkpoint. Oh yea, no heel hooking or kneebarring in the perfect opposing pinches or the route isn't 5.13b!"

I don't believe this will affect current guidebook sales.
In a year or so when the guidebooks run out though at least this information will be here. It'll be easy to dump to a hardcopy. I'll be working on maps over the next year also.
