After 7 years the old UT climbing competition (which some of you still remember) has been revived as a bouldering competition to benefit the Access Fund.
Registration will begin this Sat. at 10am in the HPER Building on the campus of the University of Tennessee (Knoxville). The competition will consist of some 40-50 boulder problems from V0 to V12ish. There will be a open division (V8 and up), and two additional categories for both men and women (these may change depending on attendance). You will get points for each problem finished, not just your top problems. Climbers will be paired up and will score each other. The top competitors from each divison will advance to a finals round which will be a few additional problems. The top 5 from the open divison will win prizes. Everyone else will go into a raffle, and the winners from the other divisons will get some advantage in the raffle (ie more tickets, or pick-your-prize). We currently have A FEW THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of prizes to give away and have planned so that no one will go home empty handed. So don't just come a watch, compete, becuase you will win something in the raffle. Note we have limited the competition to the first 100 competitors. We have a lot of gear to give away, so sign up and get some.
We aim to be finished with the entire thing by 5 pm so that we can get ready for the Telluride Film Festival (www.telluridefilmfestival.com) at 7pm in the UC Auditorium (Free to UT Staff, Students, Faculty, $8 Adults, $5 students).
