I was thinking about you on Sun, Wes

I am not gonna run out and buy Ice gear. I agree it's a novelty, but I sure had fun!

I will admit that I have had fun climbing ice. But, really it wasn't as much fun as bouldering or climbing. And I have been to some cool areas, like North Conway, Ouray, and the front range. Even some fun climbing roadcuts here in KY. But overall, I think I would rather be at LR.

And, Sandy, those aisles can get super cold! Hmm, can I justify a $350.00 down jacket, when I already have an OK tnf one? And that $550 down sleeping bag? Man, I need one of those for sure.

the best thing about the desert in the winter is that you climb in your t-shirt while it is hot out and then spray at night when it is freezing. so while you are spraying you get that "I am a hardcore climber becuase I like to freeze my ass off" feeling even though you are nice and warm when you climb.

and here everyone is sharing cookies and beer because we all feel so hardcore for standing outside around a fire at night when it is freezing.

If you're so desperate to climb outside that you'll climb in 20ish or 30ish weather, at least head over to Southern Illinois, where the cold-improved friction will make a big difference (plus, it's usually a few degrees warmer than at the Red) Think Fontainebleay - the hardest sends on sloper sandstone usually happen in the cold.

As for climbing in the high 40's on a sunny day - that does make me a super fucking cool badass climber because I'll be having the most FUN of anyone!
