I get so sick of people, every winter, who climb at the Red on cold days coming on the site and bragging about how cool they and how much of a pussy everyone else is just because they climb on cold days.
Attention people: WE ARE ALL DOWN SOUTH or in the gym BOULDERING while you are IN THE RED FREEEZING YOUR ASSES OFF AND CLIMBING ROUTES BELOW YOUR LIMIT!
You see, this is what gives us the power to come back in the Spring and send, in one day, all the routes you worked on all winter long.
So please, don't make the Gumby mistake of bragging about how you hiked through snow to go make the millionth ascent of Ro Shampo or Wild Gift.
Puleeez! That is so Gumby-Beginner-esque.
More power to you if you love to go send in the cold weather. But don't make yourself out to be heroes because all you are is some dude out climbing in the cold. That is all you are. That is all you are. Your existence is this --><-- big in the grand scheme of things.
I'm so cool because I climb in the cold! Give me a cookie!

As a former gumby winter climber, I must fully agree with SCIN. I would climb on stupid cold days all the time. And maybe get three pitches in. None of which were all that hard. Now, I just go to the gym or head south and get much more climbing in. And, I can sleep in a house / motel. So, no middle of the night freezing my ass off to go take a piss.

i am highly in favor of heading south or to the gym when it is too cold. you can get a some nice days in the winter, but sometimes it is best just to get the heck out of kentucky or hide in the gym.
besides who wants to stand around belaying when it is freezing cold?!

Definitely ain't nothing wrong with it. I just think it's funny when people get that "I am more hardcore than you" attitude just because they go craggin' on a cold day.
If they were *really* hardcore then they would not be living in Kentucky. They would be out where some mountains are.
Listen, people, you're not *hardcore* just because you go play on 60 foot sandstone cliffs in the winter.
