on a 20ft+ fall potential i don't think the rope behind the ankle is the largest concern in his head.

Maybe he is free soloing it? He is trailing the rope so he can rap off. Don't you remember when he free soloed Creature Feature? He did the same thing.

free climbers or free soloists, there's a difference.
