Religious Climbing

don't you just love it rhunt!!

its kinda like being pushed naked down a steep sheet of metal cover in razor sharp points, then landing in a puddle of lemon juice!!!

or maybe putting you head into a vice - removing your eyeballs via sticking needls into the sides and poping it out. Then giving it many many paper cuts before swallowing it whole!!!

So much fun!

I'm not a Christian, but I have the utmost respect for those who are or those in any religion (or those who are atheist or agnostic). And I didn't say I didn't like you, Jabba (I don't know you), but try to understand where others are coming from when you degrade something that they deem the central core of their being. I think that's mature advice for you or anyone.

Sure its mature advice, if mature means going through life trying not to step on toes.

I completely understand why somone would get very agitated by my posts.
If somone can't handle there core belifes being challenged(degraded imaturely) then they deserve to be pissed off.

belive it or not there are bigger ass holes and less mature people than myself, are you going to run and stand up for anything they talk bad about?

why do you find it necesary to stand up for others???
If what im saying is not directed toward you why are you getting all pissy?
If I where to have said the same things but in more mature terms would you have responded the same??? I think not.

You're not challenging anyone's beliefs by degrading them first; you're the one stepping on toes and that has been my point. Move on and go climb.

Your's is an interesting question. Why do you need to go to church is not the question. The question is, are you a saved person, meaning that have you realized that you are a sinner and that you are going to hell and that you have repented from your sins and pledged for the rest of your life to follow Jesus as your LORD and SAVIOUR in an intimate love relationship with him? If your answer is yes, that you must know that the Bible says that you should desire to go to church to hear the word of God preached and to fellowship with other Christians and be in a vibrant fellowship.

One thing in my life that I am understanding about church is that it's not a perfect place, and you shouldn't expect for it to be perfect. You should expect however, for the church to do what it says and practices what it preaches.

About climbing, I think that after you go to church, you can go to the Gorge and climb a couple routes and call it a day, but remember, that God has commanded you to remember the sabbath and keep it holy. The word holy is actually hebrew for consecrated, or set apart from. This means that this is a special day that God used to remember his creation. Like God, climbing can afford us the same avenue of worship. We can climb because God gave us the ability and the guts, and at the end of our work up the rock we can rest and see God's creation and spend time up on the top thanking God for the day, and for the Gorge that he has provided to climb, and that we can pray to him to keep us mindful of it all.

Most importantly, I Corinthians 10:31 says, "whether you eat or drink, do it all for the Glory of God."

2nd I "had" been saved.. when I was yunger.
It has taken me several years of sining but I finnaly feel confident that I'm no longer in "god's elite oh holy assembally of christians"...
For awhile I wasn't sure if I was still saved or not... I considered killing a few people to be sure.

Going to church is about as tempting as swallowing a gallon of mustard,
and is as important of an issue to me as which magazine to jack off with.

On sundays I usualy have sex with a few animals before I climb.
Just to be sure I'm not doing anything remotly close to what "god" would want.

Being a 'Saved' Christain doesn't mean one will desire to go to church. I realize you believe that is a 'fruit' of the Spirt but it's just not always true of everyone. When it come down to it, I think the best way to have a fulfilling Spirtual life and a fulfilling climbing life is to find a church that meets during the week....if you have to travel far for good rock climbing.
