Religious Climbing
No kidding, Loren! There is nothing simple about the minds of these people Jabba, it's just yours doesn't have the maturity to fathom what they recognize, believe, or see beyond the physical realm that they live in. Don't shut people off just because you don't follow what they do. there is nothing simple about any person or his/her belief system, you just need to look deeper and beyond yourself.
Kevin Todd, thanks for your name.jabbathehut wrote:My name is Kevin Todd...
Dose it make you feel better to have blasted somone infront of all you friends????
Dose it make you feel above me??
Or do you relise the humility in it all and are really smileing?
If your not smileing then go back to playing in the mud with your friends.
I have no idea what you meant by your last statement there, though i am sure that it was something very enlightening.

I grew up in a "extremly" religious home.
I was lied to for years.
I still haven't found the truth.
Only in the last 5 - 6 year have I even found that what I grew up beling could be wrong.
When I say simple minded - I include myself/family.
I'm just now ablt to break out of it.
Naturaly I want to get as far away as possable.
However I'm forcing myself to stay open to ideas of it being true, Even if it dosn't sound like it.
I've never said anything about being above simple minded people, I'm happier below them. as long as i don't have to belive what they do.

It doesn't sound like it. If you really mean these things, then think carefully about what you say, as words are more powerful than some of us like to give them credit for. I only know you by what you post up here and thus far the only material that I have seen posted by you has been small-minded insults.jabbathehut wrote:I

Also, if you don't want to be responded to in such a public forum, then don't post offensive shit up here for everybody and their sister to read.

meadows,
-maturity to fathom-
?what the fuck? how much maturity dose it take to belive in farry tales?
-believe, see beyond the physical realm that they live in-
I can understand that possably after living so long you get tired and just simply decide to belive for no good reason, count me out.
-you just need to look deeper and beyond yourself- into what???? I'm absolutly ok about things being more complexe than i can understand, but im sure as hell not going to blindly follow, or pretend to be able to see beyond myself to justify there being a god.
Loren, I'm sure that just because you didn't understand what i was saying that it was enlitghtening. I was calling you stupid if you are taking my "offensive" post at face value.

I do want to be responded to, thats why im here.
sure words can be powerfull, they can rip somones world apart, all at once, or even by feeding them lies for there eniter life.
words can be used by anyone and modified by everyone, thats why it is soo silly to belive in them, especialy on a public forum.
mind you they are most dangerous in a relationship, thats when most people blindly belive.

I went back through this thread and read some more of these posts in order to see whether I was misjudging you based on just one small-minded post, half-way hoping that you had been kidding in your post that "some people actually believe".
Sadly though, I was not misjudging you. If your posts are meant to be taken at anything other then face value, then the double-entendres and hidden meanings are lost to me amongst all of the spelling and grammatical errors.
However, as you readily admit that you have just recently emerged from under the sheltering wing of your closed minded family to live out in the wild world of your grandmother's house, I am sure that you still have much to learn. There is hope that sometime over the next thirty to fifty years, you will learn that you actually don't have all of the answers. Hopefully, you will also learn to respect people with your actions and words instead of just paying lip service to being open-minded.
there was this cat in Greece who studied under this brainy guy whose instruction was the following, for three years he had to pay anyone who insulted him, after three years the sage sent the student into the city, upon approaching the city a wise old man insulted the student, his reaction was to laugh heartedly, when the wise old man asked why he laughed at being insulted, he stated he was getting for free what he had had to pay for, the wise old man smiled and told him to proceed and praised the student's wisdom.

So, jabba, you're searching. That's cool. That's what matters.
Typically, if you're searching for something in the dark, you shine your light around to see what's out there, because any time you shine it on yourself to see what you look like, you're not going to be able to see anything else.
So, while your comments and opinions are valid (if not rude), whenever you focus on what you currently believe, you have for that moment stopped looking. You say you don't wish to blindly follow. That's great... sheeple are the worst! But don't be just as blind by belittling others with your comments... no matter how fun you may think it is.
IF you are searching and want a good first couple of reads, check out:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/de ... =books&st=*
Fredrick Buechner, 2 books, Wishful Thinking: A Seekers ABC, and Whistling in the Dark: A Doubters Dictionary. You can buy them both together for 20 bucks at the link above. Great books for an true searcher to read... and they're short and not filled with complicated theological terminology.
"I think of faith as kind of like whistling in the dark. Because in much the same way, it gives us courage, and keeps the shadows at bay." -F. Buechner
