Instant messaging

Ray,
how hard would it be to integrate an IM program (as opposed to a chat room or PM system) through this website? I know we have links at the bottom where you can give someone your IM i.d. for MSN, AOL, etc, but I am talking about running it straight through this program. That way it would be really easy to catch someone if you saw them logged in and needed to talk to them as opposed to shooting them a PM and hoping they reply. Obviously it would have a toggle where you could disable it if you so choose.

Not too hard but it would eat up too much bandwidth. Remember, this is a DSL connection I'm running on here.

That's cool. I wasn't sure what all it encompassed. Thanks though.

Besides the bandwidth... you'd have too many people having cyber-sex on here... not that I know anything about it!
I've had just about enough of this shit.

There are 10 billion people on rc.com too... how many have you ever seen in the chat room at one time? 3 at most.

good point, but at some times a chat room would be nice for a quicker way to communicate with a fellow board member.

Just exchange AOL IM names if that's what you're interested in. It's just as fast and less trouble for Ray. This place is hard enough to keep up with as it is. :)
