Religious Climbing

Post by jabbathehut »

I've started climbing only after I moved away from my parents.
When I lived with them the sunday church thing was required.
I know there are several religous people here.
How do you handle this delima. How do you get out and climb on the weekends?

I'm under the impression that most of the people here that would call them self cristian are hipicrits(nothing new) but I thought I would pose the question non the less.

How do you deal with your Parents / Kids or do you have to???

Especially you allah??? Being the grand holligan yourself how do you pull it off?

I guess that part of the answer to your quandary would come from honestly figuring out 'why' this is an issue for you (or people who might be pressuring you). I'm thinking of things like 'are you missing out on the community at your church' if you miss a Sunday or is it really just an arbitrary rule that you're trapped into obeying?

After all, being out in a beautiful place, climbing with great people is one of the most rewarding and genuinely 'spiritual' things a lot of people know of.

Its not an Issue for me.
I live with my grandma right now. She used to bug me about not going to church but she got bored of it having no effect.
I can't remember the last time I went to church.
I'm just wondering if it is an issue for anyone and how they deal with it.
Just so you know where I stand(or dont stand)I don't pretend to belive in anything orginaized.

I honestly think I'm more in tune with the Creator by enjoying His creations than sitting bored for an hour with a bunch of other sheep in an opulent man made structure.
Sarcasm is a tool the weak use to avoid confrontation. People with any balls just outright lie.

Jabba, Why do you think there are priest, ministers, monks, The pulp, and all the other religion guys that everyone either goes and listens to speak or praises or what not. That is all done so that I "Allah" can do as I please when ever I please, they are my employees. They do all the dirty annoying work that I truly hate. They are the ones that have to put up will all the bull shit that the religious people bring to religion. Religion isnt the same as it was 4 thousand years ago. People actually believed in themselves before bowing down to me. Nowadays people dont believe in themselves, they believe in what ever they were raised and dont think twice about themselves. I need to go and Fire all my damn employees for turning religion into a money market, but you know i feelway to lazy right now, maybe in the next generation. Just remember People need to believe in themselves before they ever think of dedicating there lives to me, and worshiping me.

Its very easy. You just do what I try to do and climb on Saturday. Day trips only. It sucks in a climbing stand point but you have to do what you have to do.
Screw you guys. I'm going bowling.

If it sucks...why do you do it?
Lest we all forget... climbing is a mostly meaningless pursuit that we do for fun.

To call a person a hypocrite is unfair.

God had men originally appreoach him through "laws". This didn't work, man kept failing. So He sent his Son to be our "hero". We rely on Him for our salvation, not our own mastery of the law. That is why the 'rules ' of being a Christian are so different from one denomination to another. Jesus gave us two rules."Love the Lord thy God with all your heart", and "Love your neighbor as yourself". That's it.
Now this is not to say that all moral absolutes are out the window. But understanding what you should do begins with the commmencement of the realization of your own short commings and an individuals seeking a relationship with God through his Son Jesus.

I do it because I believe that I have to and I want to. It is very difficult to balance my climbing life (or lack there of) with my religious life. That (religion) is another topic that I chose not to discuss. Mainly becuase I don't want a religious flame war here.
