We had a helluva weekend!

Saturday started off with a bang when Johnny, SCIN, and I drove with rhino in his truck as he drove straight into a mud puddle that engulfed his truck bumper high. I thought for sure his truck was gone to the mud monster. But with Johnny's direction and rhino's superb driving skills, rhino was surprisingly able to get his truck out with some back and forth rocking action while the three of us jumped up and down like baboons in the truck bed. Some sludge seeped in and lined his floorboard but I think that's it for damage (I still can’t believe a truck can run that long under water!).

Sunday was chock full of craziness starting with Ray geting stuck at the anchors of a 70ft route. The rope got stuck between a cam and the crack about 20 feet up the route. I had to save him by climbing the route, using a GriGri for my safety, and freeing the problem cam. Soon after, our dog jumped out of a two-foot opening in our truck window while driving out of the gorge (I think she was attacking a tree limb??) and then Ray backed up straight into a truck at the Chevron. Fortunately, there were no injuries/damages with either event.

The climbing was stellar this weekend but it was definitely the other events that really made this weekend memorable. Not sure if I would feel good about it if all the events hadn’t turned out so favorable. Getting out of the mud was the craziest of all, though. Toyota makes a DAMN good truck!
Does he have a strange bear claw like appendage protruding from his neck? He kep petting it.

Man you guys definitely had some excitment! And the dog didn't get hurt launching out the window, that was lucky! Glad you were able to bail SCIN out!! See, it always takes a woman!

Toyota's ROCK!

I was really impressed with how calm Rhino stayed throughout the situation. It's evident that he is losing brain cells by the weekend hanging out with Johnny so much. Soon, his standards for what makes a "good route" and what makes a "bomber piece" will fall to extremely low levels.

The Truck is ok ( I think )!

I did everything I could to dry it out and the carpet looks clean. I know it's just a matter of days before the mildew smell sets in.

I got lucky on that one!

I had the best weekend. The weather was awesome. Went to Sky Bridge on Sat. and had a lot of fun. Sunday was the most exciting and painful by far. I learned some offwidth technique at Muscle Beach and I love it. I have a new respect for those of you that climb offwidth.

Great weekend for sure. Sarah apparently has a little innate ability for the offwidth wiggle.

Big thanks to Merrick and Wes for hanging in the Red for one last fabulous weekend. Climbing is cool, and when I say cool, I mean totally sweet!

The weather was beyond amazing. A killer group climbed at Wall of Denial. A little Bongo a little Strict 9, and a little bit of unnamed insanity.
