Looking to expand my rack for the spring season so that it will enable me to do some serious offwidthing...
With that in mind, what would make up a good offwidth rack? How many big bros, sizes, duplicates, cams etc? I already have the #1 and #2 big bros, but I´ll need more...
With all this talk of bouldering, one might think that you would be interested in off-loading some of your climbing gear. PBordon may be interested in your larger pieces.
3.5,4,4.5,5 BD Camalot, #3big bro, 2 chicken wings, 2 burning calves, the ability to ignore pain and the stupid not to be bothered by ten feet of rope above a tipped out cam. one time at band camp during a fall i pulled a #4 camalot and was caught on a old school piece called a teton.
One time while I was at band camp I had a roommate who swore by Tetons. This dude had a whole rack of them and loved 'em. It would've made sense if he was an old dude but he was 18!
Yo Ray jack dynomite! Listen to my beat box! Bew ch ch pff BEW ch ch pfff! Sweet!
In the guidebook for Sedona "A Better Way to Die" I saw some pictures of innovative pro that would work for offwidths: it looked like a rootwad or the skull of a buffalo as best I could remember; either way I think it would cover OW's and you could build a rack of varying sized skulls and rootwads. The benefits are the cost and the unlimited ability to customize and no worries about leaving stuck gear behind.
I try to be a good man but all that comes
of trying is I feel more guilty.
