Mountain Biking

Post by Ascentionist »

As some of you may know, I've been building trails in PMRP for a year or so now and have made modest progress. That said, there is more to ride in the area now than there has been in the past. No need for fact checkers on this, take my word.

I've been working with some local folks and interested parties in the Morehead environs to start a new chapter of IMBA which will focus on the Cave Run and Red River Gorge region.

If you're interested in joining once the chapter is formed let me know. We're trying to get a rough headcount for our application to IMBA.

Also, if you're interested in helping to build trails shoot me a PM. I need as much help as I can get. I'm impatient and this is taking far too long. I'm sick of building trails and not riding at all.

And finally, on November 17-20 the annual Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeways Commission Conference will be held at Natural Bridge State Park. The conference is free and this year will be hijacked by mountain bikers. Or so I'm told. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. There will also be a group ride on either Saturday or Sunday or both.

That's very interesting, Ascentionist. I never knew anyone who actually builds trails. What are the most important things you consider when designing and building a trail?

One of many IMBA videos on the subject.
