Re: The Gallery Fence
More like just tired of people bitching about shit with no real intentions of contributing to a solution. See something fix it.
Re: The Gallery Fence
Cool. I Will rip it out next time. Or “bitching” may do something... other people agree with me. I was there for 1 hour, and around 15 climbers showed up. Everyone of them said something bad about the fence...
Doctor... You like to assume about me, so I will assume about you.

Re: The Gallery Fence
Congratulations, a bunch of gumbies coming to climb 27 years with no understanding of erosion agreed with you. I don't hold an opinion on whether the fence was a good idea or not, I'm simply annoyed by your incessant bitching. The notion that a fence is ruining anyone's nature experience with 40 gumbies swarming around nearby is in itself hilarious.
Re: The Gallery Fence
I haven’t bitched about anything in years. Bring up an issue and how it could be fixed, is trying to help...
Doctor, YOU ARE SO MUCH BETTER THEN EVERYONE! I find it really funny how you think that the better climber you are, means you know what is best in land management... Gumby this Gumby that. Name calling has never won an argument. You are the one that is bring very little to nothing to this conversation.
The motherlode has no soil impact, trash or other BS, right? Because only good climbers go there.... come on man...

Re: The Gallery Fence
Many of the people I've met at the Gallery are on their first climbing trip outdoors, no offense to them but it would make sense why they wouldn't have a very good understanding of erosion. Being a gumby doesn't have anything to do with how hard you climb, more to do with your experience and common sense. It seems like you spend more time on here than you actually do climbing in the Red.
Re: The Gallery Fence
Well the day I was there was a Tuesday. Everyone was warming up on the tens and then moved left to the harder climbs. There were no gumbies lining up on 27 years and flailing around. Does that make my argument better?
I have been climbing in the Red since 2002... how long have you been? You sure do make a lot of assumption, Doc...

Okay, I admit I thought ynp1 was just being a whiny bitch but I swung by Gallery and damn...that is some poor craftsmanship even by Andrew Wheatley standards.
Re: The Gallery Fence
Doesn't Trump (*cough* ynp1 *cough*) know they are just going to tunnel underneath?

Re: The Gallery Fence
1.) You clearly lack an understanding of conservation methods to minimize impacts of large crowds. But you asked why, and I think you understand the benefit now.ynp1 wrote:I made a trip to the Red for the first time in around 4 years. Had a great time, but some of the changes or pretty shitty...
First, the new fence or guard rail, that was installed at the base of the Gallery below 27 years of climbing area. What is the point of it? Were people falling down the very low angle hill? Also, it was very poorly made. The posts are not anchored well, the wood is not pressure treated and the screws used to drill into a tree (BS in itself) are only like an 1 1/2” long and are already pulling out. Really poor carpentry!
Also, the “rules” sign at the base is stupid.
Is this the kind of crap the RRGCC is spending their money on?!? Total waste... I would never donate to an organization that waste money like this. If you have to much money, then quit having fundraisers and shit. I fully support the land purchases, good trails, and toilets, but more signs and shitty infrastructure is fucked!
Rant over... how do you guys like it?
2.) You make valid points (if true) regarding material and construction of the fence.
3.) The rules sign is helpful for educating new climbers about ethics, therefore is quite the opposite of stupid.
AND most importantly...
4.) Any attempt you made to bring up a meaningful conversation that could lead to the improvement of the Red is lost in a childish rant. You're decision to "never donate" to this organization which provides the access to the climbing on the land that you were on shows (as expected) incredible selfishness, lack of understanding, and in general what an ass you are. If you see problems and have the skills an/or knowledge then find a way to contribute.
Otherwise, just STFU whiny peon.
XOXO
