Hi.
I'm driving over from NC (visiting from Seattle) and don't know how to get to Red River Gorge or really where to go once I get there. (Everyone says, "Miguel's", but I don't know how one might get to Miguels. Please help!
I think I have a partner lined up for Sunday, but I'm in need of a partner (a ropegun to be exact) for Monday and/or Tuesday as well. Calling my cell is the best way to reach me over the weekend. 206-915-2118.
ALSO - any advice on camping in the area?
ONE LAST THING - are dogs allowed in and around the Red climbing areas (on leash, tied to a tree or something)? I have my girl with me.
Me: am still a beginner but most people's standards, but I've been climbing fairly feverishly and am comfortable following 5.9 and below. My climbing has been throughout Washington and Oregon - variety of routes, mostly trad. I can give more info if you email or call.
Many thanks ~~ mk
Need directions now! AND partners for 10/20-21
If you can find your way to I-64 east, get on that and stay on until the Mountain Parkway exit. From there, stay on Mountain Parkway until the Slade exit, get off there (I think it's exit #33) and turn right. You'll pass a rest stop on your right. Drive about 3 miles, and you'll see Miguel's on your left. It's a yellow building with a pretty big gravel parking lot and room to cook/camp out back.
Keep your dog on a leash... if you look around this forum a little you'll notice that dogs have been an issue lately, but just keep your eye on her and you should be fine.
I wish I could climb during the week... give me another 2 months till school's out! Have a blast-- you will not be disappointed by the Red!!
