Rocktoberfest

Post by RRGCC »

Pre-register for Rocktoberfest at: http://rrgcc.org/register

The prizes at the Black Diamond sponsored climbing comp this year will be awesome - every first placer will either win a set of draws or a new pack! The format is total points, with points awarded for each bolt clipped on redpoint - come crush and score some gear!

This year's shirt designed by MtnRanks is cooler than ever, and we're printing in full color - make sure you snag one during pre-registration because they'll sell out at the event!

So the only criterion for scoring points for the climbing comp is number of bolts clipped? No consideration for route difficulty or anything else?

Thanks.

yep - you get a multiplier for harder routes. so if I climbed a 5.8 with 4 bolts and an anchor, I get 6 points. If I climbed a 5.11 with 4 bolts and an anchor I get 6 x 2 = 12 points (I can't quite remember what grades get what multiplier though). If I climbed a 5.11 with 4 bolts and fell after clipping the 3rd, I get 3 x 2 = 6 points. Although I could try again and take the higher score.

It's a lot of fun and there are some awesome prizes! The number of entries varies form year to year but your odds of winning are pretty good. Hope you can compete :-)

We're excited that this year's Rocktoberfest is at Land of the Arches. While Land of the Arches normally is dog free, four legged friends are allowed Oct. 7 - Oct. 9. Please keep in mind that dogs must be on leash at all times while at the campground. See ya'll there!
