Hello!
I am new to this area and I haven't made many outdoor climbing friends just yet, but I am looking to get outside and get familiar with the Red asap. This is probably more of an opportunity for those of you who live at the Red during the weeks. Here's what I'm thinking:
- I pay you hourly (we negotiate fee) to think through the day and come up with a plan
- you lead/I lead, but I'm talking easy leads for me (I just started leading at the gym where I climb 5.10/5.11) ... outdoor I've lead : 5.7-5.8
- We use my rope, but we share clips since I don't have many yet
- You are extremely safe and know the ins/outs of leading and climbing effectively
- You can spare weekends (you can work your extreme projects for the weeks... this is why I'm thinking this is good for a climber that lives there.)
me:
- female, 30, works hard, wants to climb well and efficiently, has some cash, limited on time, in medicine
Let me know if this interests you and we can discuss weekends.
Merci beaucoup!!

Re: Paid Partner / Teacher
yes! that breathing advice is good! Thank you.
not necessarily re: guide. I was hoping to hook up with someone who lives in RRG hoping to make some extra cash and knows the Red back and forth. Happy to belay on their projects too.

thanks, guides!
In my life, I've done a lot of side teaching / coaching to support myself... Looking for the same kinda thing and a more community - oriented feel. If someone is interested, hit me up. Otherwise, I'll be at Miguels scoping out partners which is totally cool.
muchas gracias mi amigos !

If you're a women just hang around Miguels or make partner requests here and you should meet plenty of people willing to climb with you, no reason to have to pay anyone.
Re: Paid Partner / Teacher
I think the responses from the guides is understandable. I mean, what you described was essentially a guide/client type relationship. I know guides in other areas that have repeat/regular clients, where it's much like a partnership. You pay for efficiency, and climbing with someone that is substantially more advanced than you are.
I don't think you have to pay if you just want to climb and learn from someone, necessarily. Personally, I would feel really weird about getting paid if I was trying to form a partnership with someone. Besides like picking up the pizza tab, you know? I'd rather someone be just really psyched to climb, instead of pay me to hang out with them. This is coming from someone that considers myself a fairly experienced outdoor climber. But, that's just me. I think you'll find the community at the Red a welcoming bunch.
-And Eric is right, there are partners to be had. Good partners, actually. Where have you climbed outside previously?
