Hey guys,
Figured this was a long shot but we are really wanting to climb so I figured I'd give it a shot. My wife and I are looking for a couple or a couple of friends that would want to show us the ropes. I have top roped at Smith rock once before early this summer. I belayed a lead climber and had no problem with it. On my first trip i was climbing 5.9. Since then I have top roped in the gym. Depending on the gym I was climbing 5.8-5.10. My wife and I are currently gym bouldering in Louisville almost daily. I'm currently able to climb V2s- V3s and she is climbing V0-V1's. We definitely have a lot to learn but we are hoping that someone out there would be willing to teach us. We are fast learners! I am about to buy some gear (harnesses, quickdraws, locking biners, and a belay device). I would like to get out and work on some outdoor technique but without full equipment and knowledge we need help. Im planning on taking a lead class at a local gym and my wife is going to take the basic belay class. We are full time RVers in the Louisville area for a few more months before we head to our next location. I am 28 and my wife Megan is 26. My goal is to lead a sport route in the Gorge before we leave here. Anybody interested in helping us out in the next month or so? If you are in the louisville area maybe we could meet at the gym and climb together there first so you can see we are normal (mostly) and safety concious before climbing outdoors. In exchange we can provide beer! Im also a photographer so I could take some pictures of you guys climbing and get you some free prints!
Thanks!

Re: Noobs
Hey Rob, I suck far to much to embarrass myself climbing anymore. However, Rocktoberfest would be a great place to meet new folks. www.rrgcc.org check it out, and good luck

Re: Noobs
You have surpassed the stage of being a "noob" because you recognize your need for instruction. I second DriskellHR's advise to check out Rocktoberfest. They have some excellent clinics, hope there are some openings left for you to check out. As second thought is to let it be known at the gym that you're interested in getting to the gorge and listen for people making plans to head down.
Re: Noobs
There is a 'learn to lead clinic' during rocktoberfest. Check out some info here http://www.redriverclimbing.com/viewtop ... 28&t=16646 . Also consider getting some instruction for a day from a guide such as one of the guys at Skybridge aka Kentucky Rock Adventure Guides.

Re: Noobs
Hey there, I would be willing to climb with you. Where in Louisville are you climbing? I can probably meet you guys there and we could chat. I haven't climbed in Louisville yet- new to the area and I live in Elizabethtown, but I could try to get up there one evening/day- let me know when you go.

Come to Climb NuLu (climbnulu.com), which has excellent beginner bouldering.

or Rocksport, which does not have excellent beginner bouldering but does have ropes.
I heartily second/third/fifth the advice to get a guide, at least for a day.
