Hey All,
I was climbing at Amarillo Sunset and noticed a pink fixed rope on a new (not in the 2nd edition guide book) bolted route at North 40. There were draws left on the first and second bolts and the fixed rope seemed cut at about the height of the second bolt. There was what seemed to be dark red stains in the dirt on the trail leading out from North 40, towards Amarillo Sunset.
Any idea why? What happened? Was there an accident? Or am I just being overly paranoid?
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks!
Fixed Rope North 40
Re: Fixed Rope North 40
A rope left hanging in the Red?? You should definitely call for a rescue.
Re: Fixed Rope North 40
No need to jump to rash decisions like an impromptu rescue. But why would a fixed rope be cut 20 feet off the ground?
Re: Fixed Rope North 40
Think we have a jumper on our hands.

The rope has been hanging on that route since ~2013. There may be some back story to it, some bolts may or may not have been chopped. I don't know any more than that.ScottyZ71 wrote:Hey All,

The people who know for sure will probably not tell you, just because you are a random guy asking on the internet, so...
