Roadside Registration -- Email Security Breech

Post by thermalfissions »

A few weeks ago, I went to Roadside, had a great time. Glad roadside is open.

Yesterday I got a suspicious email from tripadvisor asking me to thank me or something for my recent review. Since I don't use tripadvisor I realized and thought it was phishing and moved on. But today, I got an email with my friend's name, and the only time I had ever used my email address with her name was to register for Roadside. Not guaranteed, but I was pretty suspicious that there was a breech of information somewhere associated with that registration. I went to tripadvisor and there was a bogus review posted for a place with my name that I had never been to, I'm guessing with the account information taken from the roadside registration. Just thought I'd let people know and see if I was the only one who had this weird thing happen, because weird things do happen. Or if perhaps other people had something happen but didn't realize it because it looked like normal spam. Also couldn't see how to email John so I thought this might get back to him. I know he doesn't need any more headaches but better to know than not if this is an issue.

Thanks for the alert, our internet information folks have looked at the issue. Since we do not store email addresses on the server used in the application process you used, (form results are transmitted via email) you may want to check your cookies and trackers within the web browser you used to apply. Malwarebytes.org has an excellent free malware checker.
