If i was to travel to RRG for climbing, which airport should I travel to?
Departing airport would most likely be from New York.
Thanks

Re: Nearest airport to RRG?
Lexington is the closest at 1 hour away. Louisville and Cincinnati are generally cheaper, but 2 hours away.

Technically there's an airport in Stanton, but you said you wanted to visit to climb and not dust crops.
Wolf is right, Louisville and CInci are cheaper and if you can find someone to catch a ride with the hour difference isn't a huge deal. Lots of climbers coming from those areas.
Cincinnati airport is actually in Northern Kentucky, so its not much further than Lexington from the Gorge.

So, if I rented a car for my stay - which I'm going to - the cheapest would be renting it from either Louisville or Cincinnati and drive to RRG.
Thanks buddy.
Man, I really look forward to climb in the red, rock formations look amazing and the angle of the some of the routes? - WOW.

2015 is a long way off still. Look at the plane tickets and car rentals in January or so, and since you are not tied to anyone picking you up, just go for the cheapest car/plane ticket combo.NorwegianJoe wrote:So, if I rented a car for my stay - which I'm going to - the cheapest would be renting it from either Louisville or Cincinnati and drive to RRG.

If you are flying straight from Norway, and not tied to New York, there is no reason why you need to fly to New York, and then take another plane to Cincinnati, or Louisville, whatever. It might be cheaper in total to buy a ticket from Norway to Chicago, for example, and then drive from there. For a couple-month-long trip, even a 6-7 hr car drive is not that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.
