Meyer's Fork

Post by ecp88 »

Any information on Meyer's Fork in the Upper Gorge Region? It's listed in the online guidebook, but there are no routes, no directions, etc. Has it been closed?

It's still there, but you can't get there from here! Find an old guide book or an old Climber.

The History section used to have some of the old guides, but these have been lost or removed...I'll have to find an old climber.

There were no routes listed in the old guide. Johnny never shared specific wall or route info. My guess would be that it's still mostly privately owned or privately accessed, but I have no first hand knowledge.

It's also far removed from the rest of the Gorge. you actually get there by taking 460 east from KY 77 near Frenchburg. It's almost closer to the Morehead climbing areas than the Red.
